Embracing Life’s Transitions

Honest | Straight Forward | Compassionate | Approachable

About BRG Legal

We want your journey to begin when you walk into BRG’s York, Maine office - warm, laid-back and welcoming.  We aim to make clients feel comfortable and relaxed; to allow you space to be your honest, unguarded self.  We’ve been where you are.  We know what it is like to face a family illness, an aging parent, and begin the often difficult conversations around mortality. Our objective is to make the entire process less stressful for you.

The only certainty in life is death.  Let that not be something we fear, but rather something to embrace and be empowered to face.  Estate planning does not need to be a stressful, confusing situation or cold experience.  BRG Legal strives to make the process easy, even enjoyable, by removing the darkness from the conversation and focusing energy where you can take charge of your life and direct the outcomes you truly desire.

Take control of your situation, plan your future and celebrate your accomplishments!

The BRG Process

BRG Legal is not your typical law firm and that is by design.

It starts with human to human interaction and the art of active listening.  We want to hear your story! What life experiences have brought you down your path? Who and what make up your joys in life? What are your concerns, your desires, and objectives? Each client is unique in their lived experiences, family situations, and comfort in these conversations.  We aim to make sharing your story and the specifics of your circumstances an easy and engaged process.

All new client relationships begin with an in-depth consultation to provide you an introduction to the firm and the opportunity to discuss your goals, concerns, current situations, and desired outcomes.  You will be asked to complete an initial consultation client questionnaire prior to our meeting which provides a window into your current asset and financial situation, the answers to which may influence the recommendations provided during the consultation.

BRG Legal strives to educate and empower our clients.  Our consultations are custom-tailored to each client’s individual concerns and situations. We weigh options, explore angles, and embrace truths while employing deep empathy, compassion, and patience.  We are honest and straightforward. We don’t believe in sugarcoating things or confusing you with legalease. We’ve been there.  We understand how stressful, uncertain, and chaotic life can become, sometimes in the blink of an eye.  We aim to make things less stressful and confusing because life is confusing and stressful enough!  We want to arm our clients with the information they need to take charge, make decisions, and move forward, whatever that may look like in the situation.

Are you ready to take charge and move forward with crafting the most perfect version of your life? Reach out today and let’s chat.

We want our clients to feel supported and well-cared for throughout their engagement with our firm and aim to become a life-long source of information, counsel, and support.
— Britton Ryan Garon

Meet Britton Ryan Garon

“You are most powerfully positioned to serve the person you once were.”

I am a mother, wife, daughter, and trusted friend and community member.  My law practice and personal commitment to my clients and their families was born from the lived experience of being an unprepared, overwhelmed only-child when my mother, Roni, became ill.  From her death and in her memory, I have committed myself and my practice of law to helping my clients prepare, plan, and empower themselves rather than be thrust into the stress and confusion that often accompanies illness and death.

I received a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, and an LL.M. in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law.  I am licensed to practice law in Maine and licensed, but inactive, in Massachusetts.  I am a member of the Maine State Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).  Since moving to Maine I have worked with the firms Maine Center for Elder Law and, most recently, Bergen & Parkinson, both in Kennebunk.  In 2021, after a pandemic year of protecting, caring for, and more intentionally enjoying my family, I decided to refocus my priorities and leave my employment to go out on my own.  BRG Legal was born from a desire to be more directly involved with my clients, responsive to their needs, and compassionate to their situations.

I love where I live and feel so lucky to call Maine home!  I am very thankful that my husband wanted to return to his hometown to raise our family and have enthusiastically embraced the small-town nature of our community.  The Maine Seacoast boasts spectacular beauty, both in its landscape and, most importantly, its community fabric.  Being actively engaged in our caring and compassionate community is important to my entire family and my husband, Patrick and I can often be found out with our three children; Declan, Noah and Quinn, at different community events and volunteer opportunities.

I am currently a Trustee of the York Public Library Board of Trustees, a member of the York Rotary Club and serve on the Board of Heart to Heart.  I served as a member of the Town of York Board of Appeals for over 11 years and previously sat on the Board of SAGE Maine.  I am also active in the York Serving our Seniors Organization and enjoy presenting on estate planning and elder law issues at community events and gatherings.  When I am not building my business or attending a board meeting, I enjoy movie nights and bonfires with my family, attempting to garden, occasionally cooking, and enjoying time with friends.

Our time here is precious - and it is fleeting - let’s embrace it wholly and focus on the parts of the journey that bring true joy.

“Thank you so much for your expertise, patience, and time.  We are grateful to have you as our lawyer and look forward to future business with you.”
